ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SERVICES

Keystage 3 and 4

We are a new and exciting alternative education and vocational project,  currently working with young people excluded or at risk of exclusion from schools across the city and county. The West Bridgford Equestrian Centre is a professional establishment made up of qualified teachers/youth workers and fully qualified horse riding instructors. We offer a caring and understanding service to young people with barriers to learning, you could chose from a full-time programme or part-time vocational programme with a good range of provision for young people, we work with young adults who have challenging, vunerable and behavioural problems. We start with an individual assessment to go forward with a personnal individual learning programme, we look at any issues to build self asteem. We offer NVQ level 1 in horsecare, NVQ level 2 in horsecare through the Bristish Horse Society. We also offer NVQ level 1 and 2 in small animal care. We are looking forward this year to offer Land based studies.

We have a very specialised, nuturing programme, we can also arrange one to one programmes for those more vunerable. We also have a high attendence record as the young people love being around animals and the outdoors. We cover Numeracy, Literacy,PE  and PHSE entry level 1. We also offer careers advice and there are apprenticeship opportunities for 16- 19 years olds. Our dedicated team are all CBR checked and have all completed a child protection course. We have 2 fulltime trained first aiders on site.
